Owensboro rallied from an early seven-point deficit and pulled away from Hopkinsville 87-74 in a boys’ high school basketball game Friday afternoon at Tiger Gym.
Hoptown led 19-12 but the Red Devils rallied and took a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second half, Owensboro (5-7) methodically pushed its lead to as much as 22 before a late spurt by the Tigers cut the final score to 87-74.
James Bradley Jr. led Hopkinsville with 25 points before fouling out late in the game.
Hoptown slips to 3-8 on the season and is back in action Saturday as it opens District 8 play at home against Fort Campbell at 1 p.m. Airtime for the game is 12:45 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
