The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Stagecoach Road Sunday.
According to a news release, deputies responded to the 5500 block of Stagecoach Road for reports of a head-on collision around 2 p.m. in Hanson. Investigation determined that a vehicle driven by Deborah Townsell had been heading south when it entered the opposite lane, heading into oncoming traffic.
Another vehicle operated by Christoper Cook was heading north on Stagecoach at that same moment and was unable to avoid a collision, and the two struck each other head-on.
A passenger in Townsell’s vehicle, Lucian Townsell, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner—Deborah Townsell was severely injured and taken to an out-of-state hospital for treatment.
Cook and his six passenger were all transported to out-of-state hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.
