To spark some holiday spirit, the Oak Grove Tourism Commission is hosting their annual holiday parade and Christmas tree lighting at Christmas in the Grove on Friday.
Commission Event Marketing and Public Relations Manager Scarlett Mayfield says the evening will start with their Christmas parade that will travel along the Oak Grove Memorial Walking Trail and will feature over a dozen floats. The parade will lead Santa Claus who will be the caboose of the parade to the tree lighting.
Once the tree is illuminated, free hot cocoa and cookies will be available to attendees, and Mayfield says, the 1890s school house will be transformed into Santa’s workshop where kids can get goodie bags and their pictures taken with Santa.
Along with the holiday festivities, Mayfield says they will be hosting a bicycle give away, and those interested can register on the day of Christmas in the Grove and the winner will be contacted on the Monday after.
Mayfield says they are excited to host this event again for the community. Christmas in the Grove kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Oak Grove Memorial Walking Trail.
