Oak Grove Volunteer FD helps a new, four-footed, mother in need

A new four-footed mother needed some help this weekend, and the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department was quick to leap into action.

Firefighters responded to calls for help after a family asked for assistance after their dog had just given birth—underneath a shed in the backyard, where they couldn’t reach her or the newborn puppies.

Firefighters Walker, Assistant Chief Stills and Captain Fugitt were able to safely gain access to the new family, who were then taken to a local veterinarian for further care.

This event shows that being a member of a fire department, volunteer or otherwise, is more than just fighting flames and responding to car crashes—sometimes, the emergencies are a little smaller, but just as important to the family in need.
