NWS calling for dangerously cold temperatures starting Sunday night

The National Weather Service in Paducah is calling for a blast of arctic air on Sunday that will plunge us down into frigid temperatures.

Officials with the Weather Service says that temperatures will become dangerously cold from Sunday night through Wednesday, with cold air and wind chills combining to create shockingly cold conditions. Temperatures could be in the teens to single-digits during the day and might possibly hit below zero degrees at night.

Temperatures that cold can quickly result in frost bite or hypothermia, so make sure to dress appropriately and stay indoors as much as possible.

Organizations that work with unhoused populations should begin preparations now to help those in need.  Stay tuned to the WHOP Family of Stations for any warnings or advisories that are issued during this cold snap.
