The Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission is getting ready to name their Woman of the Year on Thursday, but first, they’ve announced this year’s nominees.
The Fannie Bronson Postell Woman of the Year Award is named in tribute to Fannie Postell, who was a leader in this community that helped shape generations to come in this community, breaking down barriers during a time where so much divided us. Now, four area women are set to be recognized with her spirit in mind.
Those four are Peggy Mullins, Magaline Ferguson, Dawn Patricia Thomas and Kimberly Batts.
The winner of that award, along with the recipients of the Women Educating Women Scholarships, will be announced at the Human Rights Commission Women’s History Month Celebration on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Book and Bottle Shop in Hopkinsville.
