New Hopkinsville PIO talks plans for city communications

The City of Hopkinsville has a new Public Information Officer in Amanda Brunt, and she appeared on WHOP Friday to talk all things communication and transparency in the city.

Brunt is no stranger to Hopkinsville, having worked for several years with the Christian County Health Department in the past, and she says she’s enjoyed jumping back into the community and reconnecting.  She says her role will be about improving city communications with the citizens.

They’ve already begun their efforts with the launch of the Hoptown Happenings podcast, with the first episode a sit-down with Mayor J.R. Knight about the 2023 Year In Review and what the plans are for the future. Brunt says future episodes will have a wide variety of topics in an effort to highlight and celebrate things and individuals in Hopkinsville.

She says they’ll also be launching a newsletter highlighting events and information in the city.

Brunt says they’re working to make sure the resources available on the City of Hopkinsville website are fully up-to-date, and that’s also where you can go to find more information about updates to code enforcement, which she says will receive even more focus moving forward as part of Mayor Knight’s “Growing Home” initiative.
