New dispatchers join local law enforcement

The state of Kentucky has 30 new dispatchers, and some of them are local, after they graduated from the Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Public Safety Dispatch Academy.

According to a news release, the graduates successfully completed a highly structured and comprehensive curriculum to satisfy mandated training requirements. They received roughly 164 hours of academy instruction over a period of four-weeks, and training areas included correct phone and radio procedures, handling emergency and non-emergency calls for service, using emergency medical dispatch protocols and using the state and national criminal databases.

Joining the Hopkinsville Police Department is Abigail Doss—Holden Hampton will join Todd County Dispatch, Ketzia Nicole Rivera Mercado will join the Oak Grove Police Department, Kyndall Dockery joins Muhlenberg County 911 and Jo Lynn Colson will join Marshall County E-911.

Commissioner Mike Bosse told the graduates, “In completing your training at the academy, you have accomplished something great. Your training has laid a solid foundation for a rewarding career, and I wish you nothing but the best of luck.”
