New CCHS Tigers winter program coaches announced

There were no surprises when it came to announcing the next batch of coaches for the new Christian County High School on Wednesday morning at the Board of Education Central Office Board Room.

Mike Goode, Dee Leavell, Keith Marquess, and Dison Myers were announced as the bowling, boys’ soccer, swimming, and girls’ wrestling coaches.

Leavell has served as the Christian County Colonels’ head coach for several years. He previously coached at North Hardin High School. Leavell has helped guide five state champions and 33 state placers and was part of the 2020 Assistant Coaches Staff of the Year.

Leavell graduated from Christian County High School and competed for Campbellsville University and was a NAIA National qualifier and Academic All-American. He said as a Hopkinsville native, he is excited to see the dream of putting the two successful programs together.

Leavell said it was his goal to become the first wrestling coach at the new school since hearing of the possible merger.

Marquess will lead the Tigers’ swim team after coaching the Hopkinsville High School and Christian County High School programs for many years.

Marquess began as an assistant to Jim Rogers and later worked alongside Rick Cohn. She has won numerous Region 2 and State Coach of the Year honors for both boys and girls’ swimming, most recently following the 2025-26 season.

Marquess said she was excited for the two teams to become one.

Goode is a Hopkinsville native who graduated from Hopkinsville HIgh School in 1985. He has served as the Hopkinsville and Christian County high school bowling coaches for the last two years and as an assistant coach during the programs’ early years.

Goode said having the two programs together should make them more competitive in the coming years.

Myers has been coaching wrestling since 2016 and has been part of the Christian County program since 2021. He began coaching the Hopkinsville High School girls’ wrestling team in 2025-26.

Myers is a U.S. Army veteran from Pennsylvania. After a distinguished high school career, he wrestled for Shippensburg University where he was a two-time Mid-Atlantic All-American.

He said it was an honor to be the school’s first girls’ wrestling coach.

A news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday to announce the new Christian County High School boys’ basketball coach.
