Myron Dossett wins bid for re-election for District 9 state representative

Representative Myron Dossett will go on to serve another term representing the Ninth District in the Kentucky House, after a resounding victory in Tuesday’s election.

The Republican incumbent was facing off against democratic challenger Twyla Dillard on the ballot, and he commended his opponent for a race well run, saying it takes bravery and passion to run for office—and they agreed on several matters. He also thanked those who cast a vote for him, saying he’s honored by their trust to represent them in Frankfort.

He says up next, it’s right back to work preparing for the upcoming session of the Kentucky General Assembly in January, and he’s requested to helm the House Agriculture Committee.

Dossett ended the night with 7,124 votes and Dillard earned 3,442 votes.

Congressman James Comer won his bid for re-election in Kentucky’s First Congressional District against challenger Erin Marshall, winning big in Christian, Trigg and Todd counties.

And Amendment Two met a quick death on the ballot, with a overwhelming amount of Kentuckians voting no to the measure that would have allowed the Kentucky General Assembly to provide state funding to schools outside of the public school system. Amendment One, however, was a resounding yes; it makes language in the Kentucky Constitution that wouldn’t allow for a non-U.S. citizen to vote in a Kentucky election.
