Murray State University Associate Professor of Art Education Rebecca Williams won the Kentucky Art Educator of the Year award and alumna Anna Pace won the Elementary Art Educator of the Year at Saturday’s Kentucky Art Education Association conference.
According to a news release, Williams has been an art educator since 2008 and has worked at Murray State in 2015. Williams says receiving the recognition spotlights the passion and dedication she has poured into her students as well as the support she has from her colleagues.
Pace is one of Williams’ former students who graduated from Murray State in 2015 and has been an art teacher at North Calloway Elementary School Since 2016. Pace shared that she has always loved art and now she sees those same creative sparks in her students.
Williams says seeing one of her former students reach such high achievements reinforces why she loves teaching art education.
According to the KyAEA President, Rachel King several people nominated both Williams and Pace for their awards.
