Toward the end of November, the Christian County Clerk’s Office received more paperwork from newcomers and incumbents running for political offices in Hopkinsville and the county.
In the Hopkinsville City Council, Ward 9 Council Member Brittanie Bogard has filed for reelection to that seat as a Republican and currently faces no challengers.
At a recent city council meeting, Ward 4 Council Member Chuck Crabtree announced that he would not be seeking reelection, but a familiar name has filed to represent Ward 4. Terry Parker, who previously represented Ward 7 on the council, has filed for the Ward 4 seat.
Parker represented Ward 7 for eight years until he decided not to seek reelection in 2021. He filed to run as a Republican and currently faces no challengers.
Then, in the Christian County Fiscal Court, John Heltsley filed to represent the seventh magisterial district as a Republican. Heltsley will face fellow newcomer Todd Morris in the primary election.
While two newcomers go head-to-head for his fiscal court seat, Russ Guffey has filed to run for Mayor of Hopkinsville. He will face incumbent J.R. Knight in the Republican primary election.
Switching to Trigg County, Judge Executive Stan Humphries has filed for reelection and he will be facing newcomer Sam Carter in the Republican primary.
