The search for an elderly woman ended in tragedy Thursday afternoon after she was located deceased a short distance from her home.
According to the Clarksville Police Department, 87-year-old Alice “Jo” Procopio was reported missing Thursday morning after a neighbor saw that the front door on her Country Club Court home was standing open and called the police. It was believed at the time that she could have been going to the grocery store, but her vehicle and cellphone were still at the residence.
She would be located in a wooded area not too far from her home a short time later.
At this time, no foul play is suspected, but an investigation is underway to fully determine the circumstances of her death.
