Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight has grand visions for the future of downtown Hopkinsville, and it’s all part of his efforts to literally clean up Hopkinsville.
Moving towards 2025, all local governments are seeing what can be accomplished in the 2025 legislative session of the Kentucky General Assembly, but Mayor Knight says no matte what happens there, he’s committed to his goal of cleaning up Hopkinsville. He says their efforts so far have been tremendous, and as areas began to clean up, the places around them are trying to do the same.
He says it’s not out of the question to think new traffic lights could come to downtown Hopkinsville, and he would like to see new parking arrangements as well, to have more spaces available downtown.
The mayor says downtown is really flourishing right now, with new shopping and restaurant options opening up, along with a full Sixth Street, so anything they can do to make it more walkable and inviting to citizens is on the table.
