Mayes wins Muhlenberg Invite; Cavinder, Davis shine

Hopkinsville High School’s Lauren Mayes captured her second cross country title on the season by winning the Muhlenberg County Mustang Stampe Saturday in Greenville.

Mayes beat out 109 other runners with a time of 20:36.93 and led the Lady Tigers to a sixth-place tie with Trigg County in the team standings.

Hoptown’s Alexis Herrera-Lovato picked up a medal in 16th place and Kaydon Coats was 32nd. Evelyn Bangart finished 33rd and Luanna Acree was 71st for Hopkinsville.

In the boys’ varsity race, Hoptown’s Tyson Cavinder ran into a seventh place tie and Savior Davis was ninth out of 123 runners.

Levi Johnston took 58th and Fernando Genez Rojas was 66th.

In the girls’ middle school girls’ race, Amerah Acree was 75th.
