Man charged in multi-vehicle crash in Madisonville

A Morton’s Gap man is facing several charges following investigation into a multi-vehicle crash on North Main Street in Madisonville on Monday.

According to the Madisonville Police Department, officers responded to a multi-vehicle collision just after noon, and upon arrival, they discovered that one of the drivers, 37-year-old Justin Underwood of Morton’s Gap, was unresponsive and bleeding.

First responders were able to bring him back to consciousness and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigation determined that Underwood had allegedly struck five vehicles, and knocked down a lamp post that pulled down a utility line across the road.

Once Underwood was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with DUI, first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief.
