Madisonville man charged in Morton’s Gap crash, foot pursuit

A Madisonville man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly crashed a vehicle into a house on South Elm Street in Morton’s Gap Wednesday night.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to calls of a crash in the 100 block of South Elm around 8:30 p.m. Investigation determined that a vehicle driven by Matthew Fisher of Madisonville had been westbound on Cross Street when he lost control of the vehicle, and struck the side of the residence on South Elm.

It was determined that Fish was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and when deputies attempted to arrest him, Fish fled on foot. He was quickly caught and taken into custody. 

Fisher was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree escape.
