Madisonville-North Hopkins held off a hard challenge from visiting Hopkinsville Thursday night and earned a 66-60 boys’ high school basketball victory over the Tigers.
The Maroons (7-0) led 29-24 at halftime, but Hoptown outscored the hosts 25-17 to lead 49-46 entering the final period.
Hoptown led late in the game, but the Maroons’ star Kanyon Johnson fueled a late rally to help Madisonville get control of the game.
The Tigers were led by Deavery Ramey’s 26 points. James Bradley added 13. Hoptown slipped to 2-5 on the season.
The Tigers will play Saturday against Martin Westview, Tenn., at Calloway County.
