Local public library receives grant from the Carnegie Corporation

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library was one of 1,280 libraries across the country to receive a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

According to a news release from the library, the Carnegie Corporation is named after Andrew Carnegie who funded the construction of over 1,600 public libraries in the country from 1886 and 1917. Library Executive Director Tiffany Luna says those libraries were built with the belief that access to knowledge creates a clear path to literacy, self-improvement and greater opportunities, and the corporation’s gift is continuing that mission.

The grant can be used in any way that supports the library’s mission.
