April marks Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, and Sanctuary, Inc., the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center and the Hopkinsville Police Department are partnering to host the Thin Blue Run on Saturday.
Hopkinsville City Public Information Officer Amanda Brunt shared that local police officers will be running the length of Christian County, from north to south around thirty miles, to raise awareness for child abuse prevention. Brunt also invites the community to come cheer on law enforcement as they run through downtown Hopkinsville.
Some officers, including Police Chief Jason Newby, are set to run the full distance across the county, while others will run portions of it.
On Saturday, folks are invited to the Hopkinsville Police Department at 10:45 a.m. for a community walk to Founder’s Square, where a celebration will be held. The celebration will include food and bounce houses, with all of the proceeds going toward child abuse and sexual assault prevention services.
During the celebration, attendees can cheer on the runners as they pass through Hopkinsville. Brunt says the run will conclude at Valor Hall Conference and Event Center at around 3 p.m.
At Valor Hall, Sanctuary and the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center will be presented with a donation from the police department. For more information about the run and other events being hosted for Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, visit Sanctuary, Inc. on Facebook.
