A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges, after he allegedly assaulted two victims on East 19th Street on Thursday.
According to the report from Hopkinsville police, officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the 800 block, where 36-year-old Detrick Sharber of Hopkinsville had allegedly forced his way into a home, causing damage to the door frame.
Once inside, he began an argument with a victim, which became physical. He allegedly pushed her multiple times, struck her with his fists and strangled her around the throat.
During this, a 12-year-old child was struck in the ribs while she was attempting to break up the fight. The assaults were reportedly captured on video. Sharber also reportedly violated a domestic violence protective order.
Sharber was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree strangulation, third-degree criminal abuse, fourth-degree assault and violation of a Kentucky Emergency Protective Order.
