The short Christmas break for local high school basketball teams will end on Saturday as several teams will be playing in holiday tournaments.
In boys’ basketball, the Christian County Colonels head to Central Hardin to take on Louisville Southern in the Planet Fitness Holiday Tournament at 1:45 p.m. Saturday. The Colonels are 4-4 on the season and coming off a 69-39 loss to Mount Vernon, Ill., Tuesday at Calloway County.
Meanwhile, the Hopkinsville Tigers try to end a two-game losing streak as they open play in the Ashland Invitational against Jeffersontown at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Tigers are 5-5 on the season.
University Heights Academy heads up the road to Henderson to play Louisville Atherton in the Faupel Automotive Group Colonel Basketball Classic at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The Blazers have won two straight games and enter Saturday’s contest with a 3-3 mark.
In girls’ basketball, Christian County will travel to South Warren High School at 6 p.m. Saturday night to take on Region 3 power Daviess County in the First Bank Holiday Bash. The Lady Colonels are 3-3 on the season.
