A pair of Hopkinsville golfers have qualified for the Leachman Buick—GMC-Cadillac Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Golf Tournament next week in Bowling Green.
University Heights Academy senior Conlee Lindsey and Hopkinsville High School’s Cate Blane both were among the top 15 scores from golfers not on the three teams who automatically qualified for next week’s event.
For Lindsey, it will be the fourth straight trip to the state tournament after she shot a 78 at Tuesday’s Section 1 Tournament at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club. Her performance was good enough for a fifth-place tie. She was only two shots off the lead.
Blane is making her fifth straight trip to the state tournament after tying for 11th place with an 81. She has qualified each year of her high school career and also qualified her eighth-grade year.
Meanwhile, UHA’s Campbell Lindsey missed out on her first chance to play at the state tournament. The Lady Blazers’ freshman shot a 101 and finished 71st.
Campbell Lindsey said she is looking forward to improving before the 2025 season.
There was a three-way tie for first place in the tournament with Daviess County’s Claire Reynolds, Cumberland County’s Kenzie Willen, and Ballard Memorial’s Madison Glisson all shooting a 76.
Daviess County won the team championship with a 318 score. South Warren (326) and West Jessamine (333) were second and third, respectively, and qualified for the state tournament.
