Leek powers Warriors past Fort Campbell

Heritage Christian Academy defeated visiting Fort Campbell 68-57 Monday night to complete the season sweep of its District 8 opponent.

The Warriors held Fort Campbell to 0-12 from the field in the opening quarter and jumped out to a 15-3 lead.

The Warriors led 30-19 at halftime before the Falcons turned up the pressure and cut the lead to seven on several occasions in the second half. However, Fort Campbell’s leading scorer Tyreek Anthony suffered an ankle injury and had to leave the game and the Falcons could get no closer.

Jason Leek had 34 points and Samuel Thompson added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors, who won for the third straight time and improved to 9-16 on the season. Leek also added 12 rebounds, seven assists, and eight steals in the game.

Nathan Wheatcraft added seven assists for HCA, which travels to Whitesville Trinity tonight.

Fort Campbell was led by Israel Dillard’s 22 points. Anthony had 13 points before his injury.
