LBL wildfire contained at 84-acres, investigated as purposely-caused

A wildfire near Energy Lake in Kentucky on the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is being investigated as purposely-caused.

According to LBL officials, they first were alerted to the fire after it was already 60-acres large, and crews responded immediately to the area of Energy Lake, in the vicinity of the Wildlife Nature Station in the afternoon hours of Friday. The fire would spread to roughly 84-acres.

The Energy Lake Fire was fully contained as of 12 p.m. Saturday afternoon, and preliminary investigation determined that fire was caused on-purpose.

Crews are continuing to monitor the area—fire may continue to smolder in the area of containment, so smoke might still be seen. No injuries were reported in the blaze.
