Lady Warriors showing potential for 2025 season

Heritage Christian Academy softball coach Ashley Tejada says she is excited about the potential the 2025 season holds for her Lady Warriors’ squad.

Tejada, who is in her second year as coach of the Lady Warriors, said she returns most of her lineup from a year ago when HCA went 7-9. She also has picked up several athletes who are returning to the softball diamond this year.

The key departure for HCA from last year is pitcher Rachel Robson, who graduated last spring.

Senior Madison Warren, who started at third base last year, will take over in the circle for the Lady Warriors.

Senior Kailyn Johnson also returns and will be counted on for leadership this season.

Offensively, HCA will count on Warren and Johnson and welcome back Hadlee Hayes and Presley Brewer, who both did not play last year.

Tejada said she also is expecting to get help from sophomore Layton Weeks, eighth grader Kynlee Henderson, eighth grader Ava DeJager, junior Diem Thompson, and Delaney Duncan.

Tejada said the team’s goal is to improve daily and make it to the Region 2 Tournament.

HCA will open the season Thursday at Christian County in a District 8 game.
