The District 8 Girls’ Basketball Tournament will only include three teams next month after Heritage Christian Academy announced it will not be participating in this year’s postseason.
HCA Athletics Director Matt McGowan told WHOP Monday evening that due to youth and inexperience of their current roster, the Lady Warriors would not be competing in the district tournament.
McGowan said, “We are excited about the number of young players who have decided to play and we are looking forward to watching their development.”
HCA is currently 0-9 on the season and is 0-2 against district opponents. The Lady Warriors lost 82-8 to Christian County and 63-7 to Fort Campbell last week. The Lady Warriors are scheduled to play host to Community Christian at 6 p.m. today, followed by the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m.
Because University Heights Academy does not field a girls’ basketball team, the District 8 Girls’ Basketball Tournament will include Christian County, Fort Campbell and Hopkinsville.
