The Christian County Lady Colonels opened their final softball season with a 15-0, three-inning victory over cross-town rival Hopkinsville Tuesday afternoon in sub-freezing temperatures.
The Lady Colonels scored eight runs in the bottom of the first to grab control of the game. Christian County added a pair of runs in the second and five in the third to finish off the Lady Tigers.
Jordan Turner tossed a one-hitter and added a double and two RBI for Christian County. Turner also struck out seven batters and did not allow a walk.
Talyn Ezell and Alison Grant each had a pair of hits and two RBI and Alyssa Petterson also drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Colonels.
Hopkinsville, which is fielding a team for the first time in two years with many young and inexperienced players, got its lone hit from Zoey Thomas in the top of the first inning.
Bailee Ladson suffered the pitching loss for Hoptown.
Tuesday’s game could be the final time the two teams meet in softball as the programs will consolidate in 2027.
