The Christian County Lady Colonels survived a furious Union County comeback attempt and held off the host Bravettes 3-2 Friday night in a high school softball game.
Christian County scored solo runs in the second, fourth, and fifth innings and led 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning.
Union County made it interesting with the Bravettes cutting the lead to 3-1 on a double by Miley Mendoza.
The Lady Colonels’ Jordan Turner induced a pop out and a groundout, with Mendoza scoring on the grounder to cut the lead to 3-2.
Turner then struck out Ella Arnett to end the game.
Christian County (13-7-1) outhit the Bravettes 8-5. Jayda Turner led the Lady Colonels with a 2-for-3 night. Alyssa Petterson, Chloe Almy, Alondra Rodriguez, Talyn Ezell, Alexis Epps, and Jordan Turner also had singles for the Lady Colonels.
Jordan Turner went the distance, striking out eight batters and walking two to pick up the pitching win.
The Lady Colonels are back in action today at 11 a.m. in their Alumni game against Franklin-Simpson at 11 a.m. All former Christian County softball players and coaches are invited to attend the game.
