The Christian County Lady Colonels split a pair of high school softball games on Saturday.
It was a tough morning at the plate for the Christian County Lady Colonels, who suffered a 7-0 high school softball setback to visiting Caldwell County Saturday.
Starter Alexis Wood and Serenity Oliver held the Lady Colonels to only four hits on the day. Two of those came in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Caldwell turned in a couple of defensive gems in the opening two frames to rob Christian County from hits.
Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers used home runs from Carlee Palm and Brylee Butts in the top of the third to open up a 3-0 advantage.
Caldwell added two runs in the fourth and another run in the fifth to pad the lead to 6-0.
Caldwell pushed another run across in the top of the sixth for a 7-0 advantage.
Christian County threatened to get on the board in the seventh after Rodriguez and Alyssa Petterson each singled. However, Haley Petterson hit into a double play to end the game.
In the afternoon, Christian County went to Owensboro Apollo and came away with a 4-0 victory.
Alyssa Petterson tossed a five-hit shutout and Avery Adcock went 3-for-4 and slammed a home run. Rodriguez had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, Chloe Almy had a pair of hits and Jazzy Tejada had a single and double.
Christian County improved to 8-4 on the season and will travel to take on Henderson County today.
