Lady Colonels power past Hopkinsville

Christian County got off to a quick start and rolled past host Hopkinsville 68-29 Thursday night in a girls’ high school basketball game.

Anaysia Bagwell had a huge game for the Lady Colonels with 25 points, including five 3-pointers on the night. Na’Vaeh Day added 18 points and Lazarie Daniel had nine.

Christian County led 13-5 after one quarter and behind the play of Bagwell and Day, pushed the advantage to 31-17 at halftime.

Christian County’s defense ramped up in the third quarter, holding the Lady Tigers to only five points and the Lady Colonels put the game out of reach, leading 50-22 after three.

The Lady Colonels improved to 10-8 overall and 1-0 in District 8 play. Hopkinsville is now 4-7 overall and 0-1 in District 8.

The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Alicia Davis with 10 points. LeeLee Love had eight for Hoptown.

Christian County is scheduled to play Thursday night at Heritage Christian Academy in another District 8 contest.

Hoptown is back in action Monday at home against Paducah Tilghman.
