The Christian County Lady Colonels are queens of the District 8 Softball Tournament for the 20th straight season.
Jordan Turner tossed a no-hitter and struck six batters and the Lady Colonels crushed host University Heights Academy 16-0 in three innings on Wednesday.
Christian County scored 14 runs in the first inning. The Lady Colonels capitalized on six hit batters, eight walks and an error by the Lady Blazers. Avery Adcock also slammed a two-run home run in the inning.
In the second inning, Adcock walked and scored on a double by Alison Grant. Grant would later score on a passed ball.
Only a Lady Colonels’ error in the top of the second prevented Turner from throwing her second straight perfect game in the tournament.
Christian County improved to 22-13 on the season. Meanwhile, UHA saw its record drop to 5-9.
Both teams advance to the Region 2 Softball Tournament next week at Webster County High School. The Region 2 tournament draw is scheduled for Friday when dates and times for the tournament will be set.
