The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers’ soccer team made their second appearance in the Gothia Cup early this morning in Sweden.
The Lady Blazers fell 3-0 to U18 Renheim IL, from Norway to drop to 0-2 in pool play. Ranheim IL is part of the Ranheim Futbol professional soccer program in Norway.
Today’s game was a scoreless battle for the first half with both teams generating several scoring opportunities.
However, Renheim came out and put the pressure on the Lady Blazers’ defense and was able to score 3 minutes into the second half. They made it 2-0 seven minutes later and then added the third goal in the final 5 minutes of play on a penalty kick.
UHA has one more game in pool play against Toarpsalliansen of Sweden before learning their tournament opponent.
