The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is warning citizens about fraudulent texts that have been sent by scammers who are impersonating the state agency.
According to the cabinet, Kentuckians have received scam messages concerning unpaid traffic tickets and threatening the suspension of driving privileges if payment is not sent. The cabinet advises folks to not click the link in the message even if it looks legit, because the cabinet does not collect ticket fees or alert drivers of violations.
The cabinet is working to take the fraudulent websites down. Those who clicked the link and provided any personal information are advised to contact their bank immediately.
