KSP releases details on Murray officer-involved shooting

Kentucky State Police are releasing additional details on an incident where a suspect was shot by a Murray Police Department officer on Monday.

KSP was called to investigate an officer-involved shooting that happened on Brooklyn Drive in Murray just before midnight Monday for reports that 23-year-old Eric Saxton was “out-of-control” while armed with a weapon.

The shooting occurred after officers with the Murray Police Department arrived on scene and Saxton allegedly made threats to officer and charged at them—a Murray officer fired their agency-issued firearm, striking Saxton.

Saxton was treated at a local hospital before being transferred to another hospital for further treatment. His injuries are thought to be non-life-threatening.

The Murray officer involved has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
