The Hopkinsville Tigers rallied to send Saturday’s high school basketball game with Kenwood into overtime, but the Knights were able to escape Tiger Gym with a 72-66 win Saturday afternoon.
The Knights (6-6) went on a 10-0 run to take a 22-12 lead only to see the Tigers rally with 9-2 spurt of their own in the second quarter. Kenwood led 29-25 at halftime.
Hoptown (7-7) trailed 46-40 entering the final frame, but were able to tie the game and send it into an extra period at 58-58.
Christian Taylor, who scored 19 of his game-high 25 points in the second half and overtime, finally sent the Knights to the win as Kenwood outscored Hoptown 14-8 in overtime.
Jonovan Leavell had 16 points and James Bradley Jr. added 15 for the Tigers. Hoptown is scheduled to play at Owensboro on Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with airtime scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
