Shooting suspect Marshawn Taylor appeared in Christian Circuit Court on Wednesday where a trial date for his case was set for October.
Taylor was arrested in 2021 in connection to the shooting of 27-year-old Marka Smith of Owensboro. Smith sustained gunshot wounds to the wrist and hip while she was sitting in a vehicle in the 100 block of North Elm Street.
In court, Circuit Judge Andrew Self set Taylor’s final pretrial conference for September 18 and set for his trial to begin on October 10.
Taylor’s new defense attorney, Eric Bearden shared with Self that he plans to file a motion to reduce his bond.
Before a motion is made Self says he wants to give Commonwealth’s Attorney, Maureen Leamy time to review the evidence of the case.
