Judge-Executive talks solar project, winter preparedness

Solar panel projects have been a topic of discussion in Christian and surrounding counties for some time, and Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam discussed a recent ordinance concerning them with WHOP.

The new ordinance would replace the one that was passed last November, if approved on second-reading, and Judge Gilliam says it’s a more comprehensive ordinance that would allow interested developers the chance to apply for a license while protecting land owners.

He says it’s their job to protect the land and conservation efforts, and this is more focused on that aspect of the situation than the zoning aspect.

While the sun has been shining brightly recently, he says the county is more than ready to respond in the event of icy or snowy weather, with plenty of road salt on hand.

He bragged on the Christian County Road Department, saying they do a great job on clearing the county roads as quickly as possible.
