Indictments for rape, sex crimes returned by Christian Co. Grand Jury

A Christian County Grand Jury returned numerous indictments recently for various sex crimes and assault.

Indicted for two counts of first-degree rape against a victim under 12-years of age is 42-year-old Joel Stoltzfus of Indiana. The indictment alleges Stoltzfus used forced to engage in sexual intercourse against a victim under the age of 12 between the dates of January 2005 and December 2008.

Indicted for first-degree rape and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse is 33-year-old Darius Sims of Michigan. He is accused of committing the act of rape in May of 2024, and then subjecting a victim under the age of 16 to sexual contact on two occasions and other sexual behaviors in the same time frame.

Twenty-four-year-old Keyivoran Pettigrew of Hopkinsville is indicted for second-degree assault, in relation to a shooting that occurred in early September on West Second Street where a male victim sustained gunshot wounds to the arm and leg. Investigation revealed that Pettigrew and the victim had allegedly been in an altercation before the shooting occurred.

Indicted on 33 counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor under 18 years of age is 22-year-old Kaleb Freeman of Hopkinsville as the result of an Internet Crimes Against Children Investigation. The investigation began when the Hopkinsville Police Department was notified that a Hopkinsville resident had distributed multiple files containing child sexual abuse material through the Kik Messenger application.

During an interview with police, according to the police report, Freeman allegedly confirmed he was the person who had solicited and redistributed the material. Freeman reportedly acknowledged that he knew his actions were illegal.
