Interstate 69 in Hopkins County has reopened from I-24 to I-69, after being covered in flood waters late Saturday night during historic rainfall.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, flood waters from the Tradewater River finally dropped off of I-69 in Hopkins County and crews have spent a portion of the morning clearing flood debris from the roadway, patching potholes and inspecting bridges over the river in the north and southbound lanes to make sure they were safe for travel.
All lanes of the I-69 were closed near the 90 mile-marker after the Tradewater River swelled to unprecedented levels during the flooding.
Now, traffic has resumed in both directors from I-24 in Lyon County to the Interstate 69-Interstate 169-Western Kentucky Parkway in Hopkins County.
