The Hopkinsville-Christian County Human Rights Commission’s 51st annual Unity Breakfast is approaching, and Commission Executive Director Raychel Farmer appeared on WHOP on Friday to share all of the details.
The Unity Breakfast will take over the Bruce Convention Center on October 23 at 7:30 a.m. Farmer says the theme of this year’s breakfast is “Humility, Unity and Peace,” and Christian County Circuit Judge Andrew Self will be the keynote speaker.
Multiple awards will also be given out and Farmer says the public was invited to nominate community members for the Hal and Betye Thurmond Award, the Bernard Standard of Excellence Award, the Volunteer of the Year Award and then three Unity Awards will be given out.
Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight, Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver and Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam will each present a Unity Award to a member or group in their community who contribute to the spirit of unity.
Farmer says they currently have around 50 tickets left for the breakfast and they are available at eventbrite.com.
