HPD locates nearly 100 pounds of marijuana in traffic stop

The Hopkinsville Police Department located nearly 100 pounds of drugs during a routine traffic stop Wednesday night. 

According to a news release, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle driven by Vontrae Lewis of Hopkinsville for disregarding a stop sign. Then, a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed 93 pounds of marijuana.

Lewis was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana, disregarding a stop sign, operating on a suspended of revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

HPD states they are committed to removing drugs from the community while also ensuring safety on public roadways.
