HPD calling for community assistance following string of vehicle thefts

The Hopkinsville Police Department is calling on the community to assist them in an investigation involving a string of vehicular thefts from over the weekend.

In a post to social media, the department says between Friday night and Sunday morning, numerous vehicle thefts were reported to police in different areas of the city. They are asking, in particular, for any video footage that could be showing suspicious activity, including possible groups of juveniles or young adults wearing hooded clothing.

If you discover anything concerning on your surveillance footage and are willing to share it with officers, you can contact the Hopkinsville Police Department at 270-890-1300. From there, it will be reviewed by an officer to determine whether it is of value for the department.

Officials says the assistance can help make a difference in keeping the community safe, and they also reminds folks to locking your vehicles, taking all valuables inside and never leave your keys in an unattended vehicle.
