The Hopkinsville Tigers split a pair of high school baseball games on Wednesday in Fort Walton, Fla.
Hoptown opened the day with a 10-5 win over Talawanda, Ohio.
Deuce Embrey allowed five hits and three earned runs to pick up the pitching win.
Layton Lindsey had a pair of singles to lead the Tigers’ five-hit attack. The Tigers also took advantage of five Braves errors and seven walks.
Hopkinsville jumped out to a 4-1 lead after three innings and led 7-1 entering the sixth before the Braves plated four runs using four hits and a pair of walks.
However, the Tigers ended the rally with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth using a pair of hits by Chase Fort and Gavin Mitchell along with a hit-by-pitch.
In the second game, Louisville Male pitching held the Tigers to only four hits and took a 6-0 win.
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when the Bulldogs pushed across four runs. Male had four hits and took advantage of a Hoptown error in the frame. The big hit was a home run from Kellen Goodman.
The Bulldogs added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning using three walks and a pair of hits.
Gavin Powell led Hoptown at the plate with a double and single. Lindsey and Griffen Meacham added singles for the Tigers, who slipped to 4-4 on the season.
Powell suffered the pitching loss, despite going 5 1/3 innings and striking out four.
Hopkinsville is scheduled to play Hancock County at 9 a.m. today in their final game in Fort Walton.
