The next Hoptown Idol will soon be found, as the fourth annual Hoptown Idol event is set to take place September 13.
According to a news release from Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation, it will be a night of fun and celebration of local talent. One winner will take home the $500 cash prize, along with a two-hour recording session at ARC Exhibit Studios in Hopkinsville.
That means they are accepting competition entries now through September 9—more about how to submit a video entry can be found on the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Facebook or website, or give them a call at 270-887-4290. Four qualifiers will be selected from the video submissions.
Then on the night itself, there will be 15 open mic spots available on a first-come basis for a live audition in front of an audience—four more qualifiers will be chosen from that gathering, with open mic sign-ups starting at 5 p.m. at Founders Square downtown. Then, the 8 finalists will face-off until only one remains to claim the prize.
Crowd participation is factored into final judging. There will be food trucks on hand that night and music and karaoke services are provided by House Party Karaoke.
