On Tuesday afternoon, friends and family of Hopkinsville High basketball players Antonio Williams and Shiyah Forte gathered at Tiger Gym to watch them sign their official letters of intent to play basketball at the collegiate level.
For Antonio, he signed with Three Rivers College, which is located in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. In his senior season, Williams managed to lead his team in points and rebounds averaging 26.1 ppg and 13.5 rpg. Those stats made him the 10th best scorer and 5th best rebounder in the entire state of Kentucky this season amongst high school players.
Shiyah is taking her talents north to play at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, Michigan. In her senior year, like Antonio, she lead her team in scoring and rebounding averaging 13.1 points and 11.5 rebounds per game which made her 24th in the statewide high school rebound rankings. To put a ribbon on Shiyah’s terrific season she was also named the 2nd Region Player of the Year.
Both Antonio and Shiyah spoke with WHOP after their signings to share some of their thoughts and thank you’s after their special moment.
