With only four weeks until the opening night for the 2026 Hoptown Hoppers baseball season, the organization is needing help from the community to be host families for players.
Holly Hampton, the Vice President of the Hoptown Hoppers, was a guest of The Early Bird Show on Friday and said they currently are short of beds and need help.
Hampton said her family has been a host family several times and the reward is not only helping the young men, but also forming lasting relationships with the player and his family.
Christian County Circuit Judge John Atkins, who is a board member, also was a guest on the show Friday. He reminds the community that without host families, there would be no Hoppers baseball.
Opening night is May 29 against the Madisonville Miners. All games this year will be played at Hopkinsville High School. All home regular season games and all playoff games will be broadcast on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
Hampton said the Hoppers also are seeking meal sponsors for $275 and several game day sponsors.
In addition, the team is seeking an announcer for home games this summer.
Anyone interested in being a host family, sponsor, or an announcer can contact the Hoppers on their Facebook page.
Meet The Hoppers is scheduled for May 27 at Camo Caravan beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Hoppers Baseball Camp is scheduled for June 16-18 at Tiger Field for youths ages 5-12. The cost is $175 and anyone interested can find registration forms on the team’s Facebook page.
