Hopkinsville sweeps past Trigg County in volleyball

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers went into Wildcat Gym and swept Trigg County 3-0 Thursday night in a high school volleyball match.

Hoptown won the first set 25-15 and came back to take the second set 25-20. The Lady Tigers finished off the Lady Wildcats 25-19.

Brooke Stewart had eight aces to lead the Lady Tigers. Madysen Taggart had 13 kills and Saralynn Major and Kaley Bangart each had three kills. Alayna King provided 16 assists, three digs, and two aces.

Hoptown, which broke a three-match losing streak, improves to 5-18 on the season and returns to action Tuesday at home against Fort Campbell. However, if the government shutdown still is in effect, that game will not be played.

It was a good night for Hopkinsville, which saw the freshmen, JV, and varsity earn wins against the Lady Wildcats.
