In the past two months, the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville has helped 58 families in Christian County and the surrounding area stay in their homes by providing $192,523 in rental assistance through its emergency support programs.
This assistance not only prevented dozens of families from facing homelessness but also reportedly impacted the local economy. Every dollar went directly to landlords and property owners, offering stability for renters while strengthening the area’s housing market.
Lieutenant David Donegan, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville, says keeping families in their homes is essential to what the Salvation Army does, and when housing is secure, children can remain in school, parents can keep working and families can move forward. He also says this support helps support local landlords and property owners, which he believes benefits the community as a whole.
The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville serves the Pennyrile region with a wide range of programs, including shelter, food distribution, case management and housing services. More information about the nonprofit’s services is available at salvationarmyhopkinsville.org.
