Hopkinsville Rotary Club prepares for annual auction

The 76th WHOP Rotary Auction is less than a month away and Hopkinsville Rotary Club President Landan Stallons and Auction Chair Brett Pritchett appeared on WHOP to share how the auction supports local students and organizations.

The auction is the Rotary Club’s largest annual fundraiser that supports students pursuing higher education and nonprofits. Last year’s auction raised over $634,000 setting a new fundraising record.

During the week-long auction, Stallons says they plan to give out 16 grants totaling $185,000. The grants will be presented to organizations that support and provide resources for local youth.

Funds from the auction will also go toward the Rotary Scholars Program, which allows students to attend Hopkinsville Community College tuition-free, and the Rotary Impact Program, which provides scholarship support to students pursuing careers in education, health, agriculture, STEM and business.

Stallons says they are looking for more auction items and is calling on businesses who might be able to offer items or experiences.

As the club’s philanthropic work continues, Pritchett says some of the youth they work to support today have parents who were academically supported by the club in the past. He says he looks forward to expanding the club’s impact and appreciates the community’s support.

The Rotary auction is set to take over the Hopkinsville War Memorial Building from April 20 to April 25, and the theme is “Spirit of 76.” More information about the auction is available at hopkinsvillerotary.com.
